Hello everyone. Most of you, if not all of you, must be asking yourselves “Is it or is it not a new face?” Indeed it is. My name is Mariachiara and I joined DEKA a little over two years ago, in October 2019, as a clinical educator.
What does being a clinical educator mean? Well, when I stepped into the company for the first time I had no idea of what it meant and what the future had in store for me. Initially, I thought it was a static figure which explained physicians or their peers how body laser systems work, communicating the most appropriate protocols according to the treatment to be performed. I believed it was only a study matter, mainly engineering. You join the company with a set role and – time enough to acquire some technical nuances – you have already honed that specific profession. With time, instead, I have surprisingly understood that I was wrong and that you don’t join the company as a clinical educator, but rather you become one. A clinical educator is a 360-degree training and growth path, both professional and personal. You must Eyes on DEKA be versed with the technical and practical aspects of the systems to ensure their perfect functioning; you must know medicine and its related pathologies.
You need to know how to interact with physicians and professors, you must earn their trust and esteem so as to become their main reference point. You need to learn to fit in situations which are not always easy to manage and you must be at the client’s disposal upon demand. You have to be open-minded in order to adapt to situations and go the extra mile, hence overcoming the mental limitations and hurdles which until then – whether wilfully or not – you had imposed upon yourself.
Inevitably, you grow. And this job, which requires strong personal commitment, may only be done if there is passion at its base. It is passion for your work which makes everything pleasant and light, and allows you to make your life objectives attainable. Furthermore, the environment in which you are plays an important role in the mental and physical wellbeing of an employee. In this,DEKA turned out to be an optimal context in which to grow, and a true life teacher. The company allows you to err and correct your mistakes, to fall and stand on your feet again.
I took a leap of faith by joining the company, literally throwing myself into a completely new adventure and into a work environment which is completely different from my academic background (translation and interpreting). The only thing that essentially linked me to DEKA was my interest for medicine. Today, instead, there is also passion, the fundamental ingredient for my professional and personal fulfilment.
What do I expect from the year 2022 and the years to come? To continue growing, in order to cross boundaries – this time also geographical ones – and to perform my role as clinical educator abroad in the best possible way, making a relationship based on trust and collaboration with each single distributor become reality.
